Psalm 110 celebrates God rule through David and his lineage over Israel and looks forward to the ultimate reign of the Messiah over all.
This is the declaration of the Lord
to my Lord:
“Sit at my right hand,
until I make your enemies your footstool.” (v. 1 CSB)
Jesus sits at the right hand of God.
So the Lord Jesus, after speaking to them, was taken up into heaven and sat down at the right hand of God. Mark 16:19 CSB
Christ Jesus is the one who died, but even more, has been raised; he also is at the right hand of God and intercedes for us. Romans 8:34b CSB
Therefore, since we also have such a large cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us lay aside every hindrance and the sin that so easily ensnares us. Let us run with endurance the race that lies before us, keeping our eyes on Jesus, the source and perfecter of our faith. For the joy that lay before him, he endured the cross, despising the shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Hebrews 12:1-2 CSB
God has given all authority to Jesus, placing everything under His feet.
He [God the Father] exercised this power in Christ by raising him from the dead and seating him at his right hand in the heavens— far above every ruler and authority, power and dominion, and every title given, not only in this age but also in the one to come. And he subjected everything under his feet and appointed him as head over everything for the church, which is his body, the fullness of the one who fills all things in every way.
Ephesians 1:20-23 CSB
Jesus is a priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek.
The Lord has sworn
and will not change his mind,
“You are a priest forever
after the order of Melchizedek.” (v. 4 CSB)
We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain. Jesus has entered there on our behalf as a forerunner, because he has become a high priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek. Hebrews 6:19-20 CSB
Therefore, he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, since he always lives to intercede for them.
For this is the kind of high priest we need: holy, innocent, undefiled, separated from sinners, and exalted above the heavens. He doesn’t need to offer sacrifices every day, as high priests do—first for their own sins, then for those of the people. He did this once for all time when he offered himself. Hebrews 7:25-27 CSB
Jesus conquered sin and death on the cross. As our High Priest, He went to the Holy of Holies in heaven and offered Himself as the final sacrifice for all sin. He now sits at God’s right hand and intercedes for us. Jesus has defeated the enemy, has authority over every ruler and power, and has a name is greater than any other name.
For this reason God highly exalted him
and gave him the name
that is above every name,
so that at the name of Jesus
every knee will bow—
in heaven and on earth
and under the earth—
and every tongue will confess
that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father.
Philippians 2:9-11 CSB
Father, You sent Jesus to be one of us, to live a perfect life, and to die on the cross as the sacrifice for the sins of the world. You raised Jesus from the dead and seated Him at Your right hand. Every ruler and power is under Jesus’ feet. His name is above every name – Jesus, Messiah. Every knee will bow, every tongue will confess that Jesus is Lord, and all will give You glory. Hallelujah! In Jesus’ name, Amen.
