When we really want something, it’s common say we have “our heart set“ on it.
What is my heart set on?
I know what I want.
I want to look beyond the difficulties of life on this broken planet and fix my eyes on Jesus.
I want to sing His praise no matter what happens.
I want to grow stronger in faith so that I find blessing even when I pass through the Valley of Tears.
I want to experience God’s presence while I walk this journey home.
I want to trust Him with every step.
I want my heart to be set on heaven.
I want Psalm 84 to be my prayer.
My soul longs, yes, faints
for the courts of the LORD;
my heart and flesh sing for joy
to the living God. (v. 2 ESV)
Blessed are those who dwell in your house,
ever singing your praise! (v. 4 ESV)
Happy [blessed] are the people whose strength is in you,
whose hearts are set on pilgrimage.
As they pass through the Valley of Baca,
they make it a source of springwater;
even the autumn rain will cover it with blessings.
They go from strength to strength;
each appears before God in Zion.
LORD God of Armies, hear my prayer; (v. 5-8a CSB)
O LORD of hosts,
blessed is the one who trusts in you! (v. 12 ESV)
Father, I long to be in Your presence. I fix my eyes on You and set my heart on heaven. I place my trust in You. While I walk this journey home, I need Your strength. Thank You for the blessings You give along the way. You are worthy of my praise. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
